Decalogue of the Domestic Worker

Based on the Writings of Saint Vicenta Maria

Vicenta Maria, had a constant desire, the preoccupation to improve, moralize and evangelize the class of the " Domestice Service ". In her writings we can find ten (10 ) affirmations that constitute the decalogue of the domestic worker.

1. They have to love the work as an instrument that gives happiness and peace to their souls.

2. They have to be patient and sacrificial.

3. They will be excellent servants in fidelity, honesty and disposition in the fulfillment of their labors, and this will spread out the good  and the greater Glory of God.

4. They have to be pious and of good manners and have the disposition to learn what is being taught them.

5. They must love the work as their only patrimony, to embrace it as a divine commandment and to carry it out well and know the  obligations of a good servant. 

6. Youth, belonging to the Colegio,  have to distinguish themselves from the other servants, by their modesty, cleanliness, compusure, good manners and have to be appreciated for their fidelity and honesty. 

7. Not to count on their own strength for the faithful completion of their duties but to turn to the Lord and to His Holy Mother frequently, in prayers and good deeds inorder to obtain light that may guide them along the safe path.   

8.They should not retire to bed without examen, though it may be brief, the works of the day that have passed, asking our Lord pardon for the faults that might have been committed.

9.  They will be afable and charitable to everybody, never subservient nor flatterers... Obedient to their employers and to respect also others who are dependents of the house, considering that  charity is the best link of union.

10. They have to take care of what to say for the tongue commits many and grave sins.
