I am Geralyn, I was born in the
Philippines, in the womb of a
religious family from whom I have received a formation
in human and Christian values. With the passing of
years I have been growing and maturing in my life. The
Filipino people live out values, like tolerance and
patience, always as defenses of the rights of the
marginalized and the oppressed. The popular
religiosity is profoundly rooted in the people, though,
the trait that characterizes it more is the love for
Mary, intimately united with her Son Jesus.
It is in this environment
where my faith has been developed with the passing of
years. Never a moment have I missed the religious
orientation and pastoral activities in my academic
times, which helped to strengthen it and to feel Jesus
as a Center and the sense of life... When I
started university, I started to have contact with
the Religious of Mary Immaculate.
I collaborated
in the house as a volunteer, giving
classes in English to a group of young domestic workers,
without forsaking my participation in group prayers
and retreats that would strengthen my spiritual life and
propelled to give a prompt and generous answer to the
restlessness that in my interior emerged the face of my
future. I knew more in depth the Charism and
the person of Vicenta Maria, through the book about her
life and her work... I was enthusiastic to know
this mission that was carried out for the youth and what
the motive is... Jesus would be manifesting and would
call... I would talk of following Him and would create
in me the need to give a prompt answer...
I have the certainty that
He loves me and all the good that happened in my life and
what I possess have been His gifts...I told Him, yes, I
responded to His call, there had been fears, of course,
there have been fears...! but He fixes them, clarifies
them, gives me the necessary strength in each moment, in
order that Jesus will be all in my life. The love
that I experienced enabled me to listen to Him, to walk
with Him and to be an apostle for the youth, whatever
it may ask me... and wherever the Congregation may
need me, today I am in Rome, in the community of Via Palestro,
finishing my theological formation.
